THE MAINSTAGE AT BDNY 2024
SCOPE: Mainstage Interior Design
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 4900
YEAR COMPLETED: 2024
Watts & Dray was honored to design the Mainstage for Boutique Design Magazine’s annual trade show, hosted at the Javits Center in Hudson Yards—a gathering for hotel owners, designers, brands, and vendors to explore hospitality trends, from design and forecasting to finance and sustainability.
For the Mainstage, we leaned into the theme of fantasy travel, imagining the space as Planet 55 Cancri e, Earth’s nearest neighbor capable of supporting life. NASA’s stunning renderings of the planet’s atmosphere and landscape inspired both the palette and the furniture forms, creating an immersive, otherworldly environment that captured the imagination of attendees.
Our design integrated pieces from leading suppliers across the design industry—including Artify Group, ASI, Audo Copenhagen, Brentano, County Draperies, Credible Group, Durkan, Kartell, Kenneth Cobonpue, Lumens, Louis Poulsen, Mater, NOROCK, Norr11, Oasiq, Pioneer, Reid Witlin, Simply Tables, Stylenations, Urbia, and our own Watts & Dray Tube Chairs—demonstrating our ability to curate and coordinate a complex, high-profile installation.
The result was a dynamic, visually striking Mainstage that engaged audiences, highlighted emerging design ideas, and reinforced Watts & Dray’s reputation for forward-thinking, operationally precise design at the intersection of creativity and hospitality.
